WOW Hunter Leveling Guide

Hunters in world of warcraft are often the defenders of the party they are with. Being an expert in long range weapons, the Hunter is great at pulling foes towards their team to ambush. Hunters are very adept in warning their party about long range enemies before the rest of the team would see them. Although the Hunter is unable to heal himself or resurrect himself, the Hunter stays clear of melee combat and is usually at the back of the group being defended by the other players in the team.

As a Hunter you will often be expected to store food and ammunition in your inventory and keep track of stuff like mobs, patrols and aggro. But the Hunter doesn’t just sit in the background. The Hunter is the long range weapon expert and is the only character that can rapidly fire long range weapons using the Auto Shot skill. Being able to tame the wild creatures of WOW to fight with the Hunter is a great help to the Hunter when they have to leave the group and play solo. The Hunter can be a challenging character to play in the beginning but it is a very powerful class that is easy to level up and considered to be very valuable to any party when played correctly.

Racial traits you should review for your Hunter:

Which Hunter race you select will effect the way you will play in WOW so don't just choose one at random.

Whether you prefer Alliance or Horde doesn't make much difference as either one makes for a good Hunter. If you are a Hunter for the Alliance, you may be a dwarf or night elf (draenei if you have the Burning Crusade expansion). I personally prefer dwarves as Alliance hunters because of their Gun specialization and Stoneform spell but that certainly doe's not mean dwarves are the only good Hunters. Naturally stealth is beneficial when playing a Hunter so the night elf is a great choice due to Prowl and Shadowmeld abilities. The night elf is considered by many to be the most effective alliance side hunter. If you would like to play a more aggressive style hunter consider the draenei for they will provide heal over time with the Gift of the Naaru and the Heroic Presence talent will assist the hunter and the hunters pets.

Lets not forget the very effective horde races for the Hunter.

With their Bow Specialization and Berserker damage per second bonus, the troll makes a fine Hunter. The trolls are very well rounded Hunters as they also have a damage bonus to beasts using Beast Slaying. A unique benefit to the troll Hunter is their ability to replenish health with Restoration. Using the taurens Warstomp skill the Hunter is able to detain its foe's without going hand to hand with them. Orc's bring a 5% damage bonus to the Hunter's pets using the Command ability and can diminish an enemies stun attack effects by 15% using its' Hardness talent. Finally if you have the Burning Crusade expansion you may choose the blood elf as a Hunter using Arcane Torrent as an effective strike against enemy casters and it also is a fast way to replenish the Hunters mana.

In the beginning you won't be a super-warrior so don't try to play like one. Every character is different and needs to be played differently, the sooner you learn how your character works the better. Keep your fighting time short at first, don't be stubborn and get your character killed over and over again. Keep yourself out of the scrap in the beginning to prevent having your character die too often. Taking on more than one quest at a time will help your character acquire new items and assist in leveling as well. If you think you have completed all the quests in your present area check again to be sure.

Learn, Learn, Learn.

Be sure to learn as much as possible from your available trainer before moving on to another area of WOW. And don't forget to look into what professions you might be interested in pursuing. Professions research is important, don't ignore them. Some professions are very good money makers, use this early level learning time to think about how you will build your character into the powerhouse you want it to be. It might be a little early to mention this but try to save a little gold. At level 20 you will be able to purchase a mount making it much quicker to travel in WOW.
